Mr. Justice D. P. Ball, was selected to be trial judge.

I was expecting a judge to be appointed quickly as the material was filed for the February 16th pre-trial. With the case being returned to the Court of Queen’s Bench Mr Lucas has withdrawn his material to be heard on the 16th. He has until January 6 to file his material for the February 16 date. In light of everything that has happened in this case I do not think that anyone would have any hope of Mr Lucas being treated fairly by Saskatchewan Justice. With the removal of some of the conditions of the gag order, and the openness and discussion within the legal community about this case there just may be some hope for Saskatchewan Justice after all. It is over 12 years from the time that Johanna Lucas was arrested and jailed. This madness needs to come to an end.
